PhD in Law. Director of the Institute of Applied Social Sciences
and the Gender Studies (with Boena Chouj) at the University of Warsaw.
Co-author of a draft bill on the equal status of men and women. Author of
over 50 articles and fragments of collective works, including over 20
dealing with the situation of women and gender equality. Author of two
books: Everyday Conflicts and Festive Justice (1988) and The
Family at Court (1994).Courses on cultural conflicts, problems of
marriage and family, women’s studies. Research topics: the role of law
concerning solving interpersonal problems, foundations in Poland, family
courts in Poland, divorces in Poland, women’s situation in Poland.
Current memberships: International Sociological Association (Research
Committee of Sociology of Law), Polish Sociological Association. Member of
the Advisory Board of Signs (Journal of Women in Culture and Society, USA)
